Meet the Congress
Executive Board

President
Acacia is a senior from Franklin, Tennessee, studying political science on the pre-law track. Previously, she served as a Kollen Hall representative, followed by a term as public affairs chair. Acacia is an avid coffee enthusiast. In her free time, she enjoys photography and all things friends. The president is responsible for bridging the gap between faculty and staff, answering questions from the student body, and being a voice in rooms where a student perspective is needed, as well as directing a team of student leaders.

Vice President and Controller
Alexander (Alex) Cook is a senior from Grand Rapids, Michigan, pursuing a dual major in business and psychology with a minor in classical studies. Now in his third year with Student Congress, he previously served as vice controller. His previous roles include serving as a neighborhood representative and as a member of the Academic Affairs, Appropriations, and Co-Curricular Activities committees. After graduation, Alex plans to work for a few years before deciding whether to pursue a master’s in business administration or organizational psychology. Outside of his official duties, he is involved in Greek life and enjoys working on jet skis.

Chief of Staff
Sam Byrne is a junior from Bloomfield Township, Michigan, studying secondary education social studies. In his second term as chief of staff, he has previously served as a hall representative and treasurer. Sam is an avid Detroit sports fan. In his free time he enjoys gerrymandering and all things politics. The chief of staff is responsible for overseeing the election process, answering questions of constitutionality and parliamentary procedure, directing a team of cabinet officials, and overseeing the biannual constitutional revision process, taking place this year.

Chief of Assessment
Chad Perrine is a senior from Jackson, Michigan, studying music and political science. Chad began his time on congress as a Phelps Hall representative as a freshman, then led the Pornhub Task Force his sophomore year. He has been involved in numerous place on campus, such as performing in the orchestra (one year) and concert band (one year), as well as running cross country (three years) and track (three years).

Vice Chief of Assessment
Castle Dettinger is a junior from Temecula, California, studying classics and religion with a minor in theatre. He looks forward to serving Student Congress as the vice chief of assessment. This role supports the Assessment Committee in their work to discover and appraise student data and drive positive and tangible change. In addition to serving Student Congress, he works in Residential Life as an RA. Castle enjoys acting, cooking, working out and spending time with his loved ones.

Vice Controller
Elena is a junior from Columbus, Ohio, studying communication and English with minors in business and dance. This is Elena’s second year as a part of the student council. She was previously a member of the Appropriations Committee and currently also sits on the co-curricular Activities Committee. Outside of Student Council, she is involved in dance performances like Dance X and Student Dance Showcase, as well as Greek life and Greek IV. She also enjoys reading, journaling and strawberry matcha.

Chief of Culture and Inclusion
Isabella Rodriguez is a senior from Lino Lakes, Minnesota, studying women’s and gender studies and sociology with a criminal justice emphasis. This is Isabella’s second year on Student Congress, serving in the past as vice chief of culture and inclusion. Outside of academics and work, Isabella has a green thumb and loves taking care of indoor plants.

Vice Chief of Culture and Inclusion
Lisette Aguillon is a junior from Holland, Michigan, studying business and sociology. This is Lisette’s first year on Student Congress. She also serves as the junior treasurer for Nykerk, treasurer for SWORG (Sociology and Social Work Organization), and works in the Admissions Office. In her free time, Lisette enjoys reading, listening to music, exploring the outdoors and spending time with her friends and family.
